beaches, revel in the arts and culture, and reclaim childhood memories of seashells, sandcastles, and saltwater taffy. Dinner is included in the evening at a local restaurant.
Day Two | Tues 22
After breakfast, we will meet our guide for a full day of touring. Today is all about traveling on the historic ROUTE 6A, the Old King’s Highway, a scenic
byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod history. It winds past hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development.
View a Windmill, a Cape Cod Lighthouse and visit the Cape Cod National Seashore Vistor's Center. Sand dunes and the ocean surround you as you approach "Land's Ends" Provincetown. We will now be at the extreme tip of Cape Cod. Formerly known as the "Province Lands" the pilgrims landed here first before they decided to settle across the Bay in Plymouth. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries that make this artists/fishermen village so unique.
Enjoy Lunch on Your Own.
In the afternoon you get to pick your own adventure!
Adventure Option 1: Whale Watching
You will travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic, and fish which use these
shallow waters to feed. Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses.
Adventure Option 2: Dune Tour
Ride through the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore, the largest protected coastline in the country. Your driver/guide will point out the
"dune shacks" where famous artists and writers became inspired to create their art. All the while, our knowledgeable tour guides will share the
history and ecology of these beautiful and unique dunes that have inspiredso many fine artists and writers. Comfortable seats in an SUV that holds up to 6 guests in each.
Dinner is included at a local restaurant.
Day Three | Wed 23
After breakfast, we will meet our local guide to be escorted to the Hy-Line Docks to board our ferry to Martha's Vineyard. Upon arriving, we will board a bus for a sightseeing tour. We will learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through Vineyard Haven.
Enjoy lunch on your own and shopping in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island of Oak Bluffs. You may choose to stroll through "Cottage" City with its brightly painted cottages with decorative gingerbread trim.
We will depart the island in the afternoon to arrive back to the mainland for our delicious Lobster Dinner. There will be an alternative option for those who do not enjoy shellfish. Enjoy your evening at the hotel.
Day Four | Thurs 24
Enjoy breakfast before checking out of the hotel. Today, we are off to Middleborough where we will explore Benson's Pond Farm for a Cranberry Bog Tour. Your bog guide will show you examples of an exsisting bog, currently in production, and will discuss the stages of the cranberry growing process.
In the spring and early summer, water is removed from the bogs, allowing the vines to grow and bloom. By mid-June, the bogs are active, leading into the pollination period. To
ensure fruit sets properly, honeybee hives are introduced to the bogs to pollinate the flowers, a process that continues into July.
At the Village Market you will receive your boxed lunch and time for Cranberry Shopping before heading home. Estimated departure time is around 1:30pm with one final comfort stop for dinner on your own most likely.
